FAQ's - Tresses
WHAT IS DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PROCESSED & UNPROCESSED VIRGIN TRESSES?
Sometimes Virgin hair undergoes a process whereby the tresses are steam processed or chemically altered in order to achieve textures (such as yaki, coarse straight and afro kinky) and patterns (such as body wave & deep wave) that cannot be sourced naturally. Processed hair also (in most, but not all cases) has been coated with silicone in order to give the hair an attractive lustre. Unprocessed hair is cut, thoroughly washed, realigned and wefted or added to lace systems without any alteration or silicone coating.
You sell Colour #60 & #613 hair, is it still unprocessed?
The tresses used for the Luxé Monroe & Co. are of 100% Vietnamese origin and embark on the 'hair journey' as raw and unprocessed, however in order to achieve the perfect blend of colours #60 & #613 these tresses undergo a lifting process, this means that while retaining the integrity of The Raw Hair Co., we are unable to claim Luxé Monroe & Co. tresses are raw, virgin or unprocessed. Luxé Monroe & Co. tresses are sourced directly from the aforementioned country of origin by us in the same manner as The Raw Hair Co. tresses however 'Luxé Monroe & Co.' does not fall under our 'The Raw Hair Co.' umbrella.
HOW MANY BUNDLES DO I NEED FOR A FULL HEAD INSTALL?
Though this is subjective and varies on individual preference, we generally recommend three bundles or 300g for 20" and shorter lengths and four bundles or 400g for 22" and longer lengths (this will differ for sew-ins and installs using lace systems).
HOW MUCH DOES EACH BUNDLE WEIGH?
Each bundle weighs 100-110g unless otherwise stated on the item description, however items may be sent as 50-55g x 2.
WHY IS THERE NOT AN OPTION FOR HAIR COLOUR?
As we only source 100% unprocessed tresses, tresses listed under The Raw Hair Co. fall under the 'natural dark browns' spectrum. We recommend for colouring services @BeauteByRae.
DO YOU OFFER HAIR STYLING AND WIG MAKING SERVICES?
Yes! For wig construction services please contact our recommended stylist @BeauteByRae.
WHAT TEXTURES DO YOU OFFER?
The textures that we offer are indigenous to the people of the land the hair is sourced from, under no circumstances are The Raw Hair Co. tresses altered and as a result we only offer one texture - Naturally Straight.
why are MY BUNDLES ARE NOT UNIFORM IN COLOUR AND TEXTURE?
Textures and colour will vary slightly between bundles and lace systems as each of our items is sourced from one single donor. This is also applicable to using different hair origins at once.
WHAT IS MEANT BY DENSITY IN REGARDS TO YOUR LACE SYSTEMS?
Any use of the term density is a reference to the amount of hairs added to our lace systems in order to create an optimal level of thickness. All of our lace systems are ventilated at a starting density of 50%-80% density at the hairline and side edges, this gradually increases to 100%-120% density in the second centimetre of the lace system, 130% in the fourth centimetre and 150% in the 6th centimetre. The density remains at 150% until the vertical midpoint of the lace system and remains at 180% throughout the remaining section of the lace system. This graduation guarantees both fullness and a realistic hairline density simultaneously. The terms 'draw' & 'draw density' refer to the amount of individual hairs in a bundle or lace system that are true to length.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SINGLE, DOUBLE & SUPER DOUBLE DRAWN TRESSES?
Single drawn tresses are drawn at a percentage rate of 50-60/100 (50-60% of hair in our bundles are true to length). Double drawn tresses are drawn at a percentage rate of 70-80/100 (70-80% of hair in our bundles are true to length). Super double drawn tresses are drawn at a percentage rate of 90-100/100 (90-100% of hair in our bundles are true to length).
WHAT IS MEANT BY LACE SYSTEM?
Any use of the term lace system is a reference to our lace closures or lace frontals.
CAN The Raw Hair Co. TRESSES BE DYED/BLEACHED?
All of our tresses can be lightened and coloured, we do however advise these alterations are made by professionals. We cannot be held responsible for any mistakes or poor treatment of tresses during the colouring process.
CAN I APPLY HEAT TO MY TRESSES?
Yes our tresses are high heat friendly (within reason, if you set fire to our tresses they will burn to a crisp).
What is the difference between your premium tresses & your 'luxé for less' range
Our premium tresses are sourced from one single donor and each donor is under the age of 24, as a result we are able to supply premium tresses for the prices we currently have in place. We have however, come to the realisation that our luxury top quality tresses may not be as affordable for everyone, following feedback from our younger customers and our customers that are currently students, we now offer tresses sourced from donors over the age of 25 .These tresses are still of an extremely high quality, however are not the same quality as our premium range tresses.
PLEASE NOTE - Due to the age of the donors our 'Luxé For Less' tresses are sourced from and the aforementioned reasons, the lifespan of these tresses is listed as up to 24 months shorter than our premium tresses.
HOW LONG SHOULD MY TRESSES LAST?
With the right level of care our tresses can last up to 3+ years for The Raw Hair Co. tresses & 2+ years for the Luxé Monroe & Co. tresses. In regards to hair care we advise the use of sulphate free shampoos, regular conditioning & natural unrefined oils.
